Volleyball Finishes 1-3 at SUNYAC Pool Play

Golden Eagles edged by Buffalo State on day two of conference competition

Volleyball records a 1-3 record on the first of two SUNYAC Pool Play weekends
Senior Kelly Nowak (Orchard Park, NY/Sacred Heart) added 37 more kills to her career total but The College at Brockport Volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the second day of competition at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool Play Saturday afternoon at Buffalo State.
 
The Golden Eagles (6-13 Overall, 1-3 SUNYAC) dropped a tight five-set match-up with Buffalo State and then dropped a 3-0 decision to Geneseo in the second match of the day. Brockport won a 25-22 score in the first set against the Bengals before falling in the next two sets by scores of 25-17 and 25-15 but rebounded to win the fourth set 25-14 to force the tie-breaker set. The Golden Eagles built an early 9-1 lead in the final set but dropped a 15-13 decision as Buffalo State came from behind for the win.
 
 
Against Geneseo, Brockport fell by scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-23.
 
Nowak had 21 kills against Buffalo and 16 against the Knights. Mark Cocking (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) had 26 digs against the Bengals and Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) led Brockport with 12 digs against Geneseo. Sarah Zelko (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) recorded 66 assists in the two matches while Alex Stribing (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) had eight kills in the Geneseo match and Snyder recorded eight kills and 10 digs against Buffalo State.
