Mary Cocking Records 18 Digs in Volleyball Loss

Golden Eagles fall to St. John Fisher to even record at 3-3

Mary Cocking led Brockport with 18 digs against St. John Fisher

Junior Mark Cocking (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) led The College at Brockport Volleyball team with 18 digs but it was not enough as St. John Fisher handed Brockport a 3-1 loss Wednesday night in a non-conference matchup at St. John Fisher.

 

St. John Fisher (1-0) opened the match with a 25-13 win in the first set and took a 2-0 sets lead with a tight 29-27 win in the second set. Brockport (3-3) trimmed the lead to 2-1 with a 25-22 victory in the third set but the Cardinals finished the match with a 25-16 win in the fourth set.

 

Cocking was the team leader with 18 digs, senior Kelly Nowak (Orchard Park, NY/Sacred Heart) led the Golden Eagles with 17 kills and three aces while the tandem of Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) and Nicole Jones (West Charleton, NY/Galway) combined for nine kills.

 

Brockport will play in the Ithaca Invitational next with competition starting Friday as Brockport takes on Rutgers-Newark and host Ithaca.
