Brockport Improves Team Score at Springfield Meet

Golden Eagles defeat Springfield, fall to Div I Yale, Div II So. Conn

Junior Elizabeth Levy (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) scored at least a 9.45 in three different events to lead The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to a season high 186.475 team score as the Golden Eagles placed third in the quad meet Sunday at Springfield College in Springfield, MA.
 
NCAA Division I Yale won the meet with a 189.475 score followed by Division II Southern Connecticut State with a 188.825. Springfield was fourth with a team score of 184.550. The 186.475 score for Brockport eclipsed the 185.800 team score from the opening week of the season.
 
Brockport (2-2) had all five scoring gymnasts score at least a 9.45 on the vault as sophomore Gabrielle Pettito (Seldon, NY/Newfield) leading the way with a 9.55 which was tied for second place in the event. Freshman Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA/Walpole) was tied for fifth with a 9.5, junior Taryn Kateridge (Medford, NY/Patchogue-Medford) and freshman Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) were tied for ninth place each scoring 9.475 and Levy was 11th with her 9.45.
 
Levy placed fourth overall on the uneven bars with a 9.625, Sylvestro was 11th with a 9.275 and freshman Connie Kung (Slingerlands, NY/Bethlehem) was 15th with a 9.175 score.
 
On the balance beam, Levy led Brockport with a 9.675 score which was second overall while senior Colleen Chahbazi (Flushing, MI/Flushing) was sixth with a 9.525 and Taylor Wierzba (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) with a 9.325 and Carney with a 9.25 finished ninth and tenth respectively.
 
Senior Kileigh Chapman (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) led Brockport on the floor exercise with a 9.55 followed by Wierzba with a 9.5, Carney with a 9.325 and Kateridge with a 9.2
 
Levy was fourth in the all-around with a 37.425 combined score.
