Adam Shoff (Port Dover, ONT) scored a goal in the first five minutes into the first period to give The College at Brockport Men's Hockey team an early lead against Oswego, but the Golden Eagles could not overcome three second period goals against the No. 2 team in the country. Brockport fell 6-4 to the Lakers.
Shoff received a pass from
James Cody (Schwenksville, PA) to notch his fifth goal of the season. The Golden Eagles struck again nearly ten minutes later to take a convincing 2-0 lead over one of the more dominant teams in all of college hockey.
Sean Wallace (Rochester, NY) scored his first goal of the season on assists from
Ian Finnerty (Ardmore, PA) and
Brett Jendra (Bolingbrook, IL) at the 14:07 mark. Oswego netted its' first goal of the game just over a minute later as the two teams went into the first intermission with Brockport ahead 2-1.
Brockport's downfall came in the second period as the Lakers connected on three goals in the span on of 3:12 on senior goalie
Oliver Wren (Oakville, ONT), including a powerplay goal at the 8:54 mark. Oswego scored two more goals, one an empty net goal, in the first ten minutes of the third period to take a 6-2 lead.
Brockport attempted a strong comeback with five minutes remaining the contest.
Chris Cangro (Holbrook, NY) scored his third goal in two nights to end the Brockport scoring drought.
Troy Polino (Limerick, PA) was credited with the assist. Cody notched his 17th goal of the night with Shoff and Finnerty each earning the assist.
Cody continues to climb in the all-time scoring ranks at Brockport. With his two points on the night, he is now tied for sixth place all-time with 112 points. Cody, who has led Brockport in scoring in each of his first three seasons as a Golden Eagle, currently trails Finnerty by three points as Finnerty sits at 33 points, and Cody at 30.
Wren was credited with 24 saves on the night, including 10 in the second period. Oswego goaltender Andrew Hare faced 29 shots, making 25 saves. The four goals against Oswego are tied for the most allowed by the Lakers this season.
