Golden Eagles Drop Two at Pool Play

Brockport falls to Fredonia and Buffalo State in the final SUNYAC Pool Play

The College at Brockport Volleyball team dropped two matches on the final day of the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Pool Play. The Golden Eagles fell 3-0 to both Fredonia and Buffalo State.

Taking on the host Fredonia in the early game, Brockport lost by scores of 25-16, 25-21, and 26-24. Hannalee Fordyce (Amityville, NY/Copiague) filled the stat sheet with five kills, three aces, three blocks and six digs. Nicole Jones (West Charlton, NY/Galway) had six kills and Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) had four kills and seven digs.

Liz Dates (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) had two aces to go along with seven digs.  Sarah Zelko (Elmira, NY/Horseheads) led Brockport with 15 assists and added two digs.

After a loss to Oswego Friday night, the Golden Eagles rallied back against the Blue Devils. "After a tough loss to Oswego on Friday" said head coach Bethany Schelegel, "We bounced back nicely and played hard against Fredonia."

In the afternoon match against Buffalo State, the Bengals took all three games by scores of 25-15, 25-19, and 25-23. Hannah Sawicki (Hamburg, NY/Frontier) led Brockport with five kills, 11 digs and three blocks. Chelsea Ross (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell) had a team-high 13 digs. Fordyce and Snyder had 12 digs apiece.

Jessica Senek (Ransomville, NY/Wilson) had five kills while Jones and Jessica Greiner (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) each had two blocks. Greiner had a team-high 17 assists against the Bengals.

Brockport returns home for Senior Night on Wednesday, Oct. 24 as the Golden Eagles host St. John Fisher for a 7:00 pm match.
