Freshman, Senior Shine for Golden Eagles in Win

Legister and Green combine for nearly half of Brockport's points against Oneonta

Senior Kyheem Green (Huntington Station, NY/Walt Whitman) and freshman Lance Legister (Staten Island, NY/Millbrook School) combined for 40 points on 66 percent shooting as The College at Brockport Men's Basketball team dominated the Oneonta Red Dragons Friday night, 85-62.

Green finished with 20 points on 7-9 shooting from the floor and 6-7 shooting from the free throw line. Green also contributed three blocks and three steals on the night. Legister also dropped in 20 points on 7-12 shooting from the floor and sank all five of his free throw attempts. The 20 points are the second most in the young career for Legister as he scored 23 in the first game of the season. Gerald Williams (Rochester, NY/Charlotte) finished the game with 10 points. Overall, 11 Golden Eagles wound up in the scoring column on the night.

With the score tied at five at the 16:18 mark of the first half, Brockport went on a 9-0 run and never gave up their lead for the remainder of the game. In the first half, Green sank all three of his field goal attempts and finished with 11 points before intermission while Legister scored nine in the first stanza. Williams sank two free-throw attempts with 2:23 remaining in the half to give Brockport a 19 point lead, the largest of the half. Brockport held Oneonta to just seven field goals the entire first half and just 18.2 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Brockport led comfortably at halftime, 39-23.

Brockport held its' ground in the second half, never leading by less than 14 points. Brockport shot 51.4 percent in the second half and finished the game at 49.2 percent. The Golden Eagles also shot 80 percent as a team from the charity stripe, going 16-20. Oneonta was limited to just three three-point field goals on 17 attempts.

With the win, the Golden Eagles bring their State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) record back to .500 at 6-6. With a win by Fredonia State on Friday, both teams remain tied for fifth place in the conference standings. Brockport takes on New Paltz tomorrow afternoon for a 4:00 pm contest. The Hawks trail Brockport in the standings with a 5-8 record in the SUNYAC.
