Brockport Sets School Record for Gymnastics

Golden Eagles record highest score ever with a 190.800 on senior day

Seniors Taylor Weirzba (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg), Colleen Chahbazi (Flushing, MI/Flushing) and Kileigh Chapman (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls) left their mark on Brockport Gymnastics leading the Golden Eagles to a 190.800 school-record team score as The College at Brockport, currently ranked No. 2 in the national rankings, defeated Wilson College and Rhode Island College in a tri-meet Sunday afternoon in the Tuttle North Gymnastics Center in Brockport.
 
Brockport (8-8) defeated Rhode Island College 190.800-171.475 and beat Wilson College 190.800-135.100.
 
The team score was only one of the records set on the day as the team also set a new school record on the vault with a team score of 47.950 and several gymnasts recorded personal best scores in events. Four gymnasts scored career-best efforts on the vault with Haylee Garrick (Myrtle Beach, SC/Carolina Forest), Lexi King (Glendale, AZ/Mountain Ridge), Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) and Gabrielle Petitto (Seldon, NY/Newfield) each setting or tying their career-best scores. Sylvestro's mark of 9.7 is the highest freshman score on the vault in school history.
 
Junior Elizabeth Levy (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) recorded her career-best all-around score with a 38.475 which is also the fifth best all-around score in Brockport history. She also had a career-best score on floor with a 9.75 and a season-best beam score of 9.725 which is tied for the third highest score in school history.
 
Chahbazi had her second highest season score on the balance beam with a 9.55 which is the third highest score in her career on the beam. Kelcie Morris (Hagerstown, MD/Smithsburg) had a season-best 9.625 score on the beam and King registered her season and career best score with a 9.775 on the floor.
 
Brockport competes next at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship meet March 10 at Ithaca College. The top three teams from that meet will advance to the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) National Championship meet March 23-24 at Brockport.
