Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) made eight saves as The College at Brockport Field Hockey team was outshot 16-4 in a 6-0 loss t Springfield College Sunday in the championship game of the Dotty Zenaty Invitational Tournament on Amos Alonzo Stagg Field in Springfield, MA.
Brockport (1-1) had two shots in each half and held a 4-2 advantage in penalty corners over the first 35 minutes of action. Springfield (2-0) fired eight shots per half at the Brockport cage and scored three goals in each period for the victory.
Schreiner made three saves in the first half and five in the second.
Springfield scored twice in the first five minutes of the contest of the early lead and added a third goal in the closing minutes of the first half for the 3-0 lead at the halftime intermission. In the second half, the Pride scored in the 11th minute and added two late goals in the final 10 minutes of the contest for the final margin of victory.
Brockport returns to action Wednesday with a non-conference at St. John Fisher at 4 pm and opens the home portion of the schedule at 4 pm on September 11 against Nazareth.
