Field Hockey Drops Conference Opener

The College at Brockport Field Hockey team opened the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) portion of the schedule with a slim 1-0 loss to Geneseo Friday afternoon on Upper Merritt Field in Geneseo.
 
Geneseo (3-3 Overall, 1-1 SUNYAC) scored six minutes into the second half after the teams played a scoreless first period.
 
Brockport (3-2, 0-1) played a close first half with most of the statistical categories even over the first 35 minutes of action. In the second half, Geneseo used a 6-0 shots on goal advantage and a 6-3 edge in penalty corners to not only take the lead in the game but also to hold on for the one-goal victory.
 
Senior Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) made four saves for Brockport. The Golden Eagles will face Morrisville Saturday in the SUNYAC home opener with a 1 pm game in Brockport.
