Madison Buckley (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored her third-career game-winning goal in a 2-0 victory against St. John Fisher on Wednesday at St. John Fisher. Buckley added an assist on the insurance goal later in the game as the Golden Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season.

After a scoreless first half, the two teams picked up their offense in the second. Brockport tallied four shots in the first half, but doubled that total in the final 35 minutes. Seconds after a penalty corner, Buckley received a pass from Jackie Massoni (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) to put home the game's first goal.

The Golden Eagles controlled possession for the next eight minutes until Buckley found Danielle Henck (Sauquoit, NY/Sauquoit Valley) with 4:14 to play for her first points of the season. Buckley now leads the Golden Eagles with seven points on the year.

With the three points on the day, Buckley moves into a tie for ninth place on the all-time goals list with 17 and takes sole possession of 11th place on the all-time points list with 40.

"This was a good momentum builder for the early part of the season," said Head Coach Andrea Zurlo. "It is great to have a good game on the road early in the year to get us going for the challenging conference schedule."

Senior Kasey Schreiner (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg) kept the Cardinals scoreless, playing all 70 minutes in net for Brockport. Schreiner made four saves on the day, including three in the second half, and improves her overall record this season to 2-1. The shutout is Schreiner's ninth of her career.

The Golden Eagles outshot St. John Fisher 12-7 and held an 11-6 advantage in penalty corners.

Brockport's next game will be its home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 4:00 pm as the Golden Eagles take on Nazareth College.
