Season-Best Score Not Enough for Brockport

The Golden Eagles fall to West Chester 187.000- 185.600

The College at Brockport Gymnastics team dropped its first meet of the year as the Golden Eagles fell to West Chester University 187.000- 185.600. Amanda Rota (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) scored a meet-best 9.525 on the balance beam to lead the Golden Eagles.

Brockport scored a season-high in three out of the four events on the day and the overall team score was a season-best. Unfortunately for the Golden Eagles, West Chester's score was also a season-best.
Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) produced a solid effort on the vault with a meet- best score of 9.550. Sylvestro was one of four Golden Eagles to score at least a 9.425 in the event as Brockport scored a season-best 47.225. Lexi King (Glendale, AZ/Mountain Ridge) recorded a 9.475, tied for second-best on the day on the vault.

The Golden Eagles opened up the day on the bars as Stephanie Shuler (Purcellville, VA/Hickory) led Brockport in the event for the second straight meet. The sophomore scored a 9.500 As Brockport scored a 46.500. The Golden Rams narrowly edge Brockport with a score of 46.900.

Brockport's lowest score of the day came on the floor exercise where West Chester scored its best mark of the day. The Golden Rams scored a 47.075 compared to Brockport's 45.500. Levy led the Golden Eagles with a score of 9.500. Taryn Kateridge (Medford, NY/Patchogue-Medford) had a solid performance on the floor, scoring a 9.375.

On the balance beam, four Golden Eagles reached a score of at least 9.250, led by Rota's 9.525. Elizabeth Levy (Glen Allen, VA/Hermitage) produced a 9.375 followed by Lily Jagodzinski (Tonawanda, NY/Williamsville North) with a 9.325. Kelcie Morris (Hagerstown, MD/Smithsburg) added a 9.250 for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport will travel to Wilson College to take on the Phoenix on Feb. 2.
