Geneseo held an early 9-2 lead with 14 minutes to play in the first half, but the Golden Eagles stormed back with a 12-0 run to take the final lead change of the game. As Brockport has done most of the season, the Golden Eagles used their three-point shot to outscore the opponent.
Matt Lee (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) hit a three followed by a pair from
Jordan Major (Rochester, NY/East) to go up 33-22 just before halftime. Brockport went into the locker room controlling a 40-29 lead.
Brockport led by as much as 13 in the opening minutes of the second half, but Geneseo continued to hang around. The Knights brought the deficit to seven with under 15 to play, but
Bobby Bell (Rochester, NY/East) sparked the offense with two straight three-pointers followed by a big assist to
Mike Gallagher (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons) who converted a three-point play.
Brockport built its lead to 15 with just over three minutes remaining, only to see the Knights claw back to within six. The Golden Eagles, led by Ivy down the stretch, sank their free throws when it mattered and came away with the victory.
Along with Ivy, Major dumped in a career-high 18 points on five three-point shots. Bell hit three shots from long range to finish with 15 while
Lance Legister (Staten Island, NY/Millbrook School) contributed 11.
