Senior Madison Buckley (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) scored the lone Golden Eagles goal off a penalty corner midway through the second half Saturday as The College at Brockport Field Hockey team dropped a 5-1 decision to Cortland in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game on Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium in Brockport.

In the second half, Brockport (4-5, 0-3) regained some momentum as the half started out as a much more evenly played game. Buckley scored on a penalty corner to put Brockport on the board 9:25 into the second half. Senior Gina Stephan (Clarence, NY/Clarence) controlled the penalty corner and dribbled around the first Cortland defender before passing off to fellow senior Emily Corpin (Peterboro, NY/Morrisville-Eaton) who sent the ball toward the cage. Buckley accepted the pass and turned quickly to send a shot past the Red Dragon goalie for the Brockport goal.

Cortland added a fourth goal four minutes later and scored its fifth of the game with just over five minutes remaining in the contest for the final score. Cortland score three times off penalty corners and held a 23-4 advantage in that category for the game.

Freshman goalie Lindsey Farrell (Baldwinsville, NY/CW Baker) was credited with 16 saves in the Brockport cage and Stephan made two defensive saves for the Golden Eagles.
