Seniors Jackie Massoni (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) and Jessica Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) each scored a goal to help The College at Brockport earn its first State University of New York Athletic Conference win with a victory over Oswego during Senior Day on Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles took control of the game from the first whistle, earning five penalty corners and taking three shots in the first five minutes. Despite the offensive pressure, the Golden Eagles could not put the ball in the back of the net.
Oswego struggled to get possession in the first half. The Golden Eagles held the Lakers for 18:33 without a shot.
Brockport came out ready to take the lead in the second half, scoring a goal just 2:37 into play. Massoni notched her fourth goal of the season after collecting a rebound off the Oswego goalkeeper's pads and knocking it in.
At the 45 minute mark, Blind scored to put the Golden Eagles up 2-0. Blind nailed a shot off of a great pass from Gina Stephan (Clarence, NY/Clarence) on a penalty corner.
The Lakers made a push at the end of the game, but the Brockport defense and goalkeeper Lindsay Farrell (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) kept Oswego scoreless.
The Golden Eagles held a 27-7 advantage in total shots and a 19-5 advantage in penalty corners.
Farrell recorded four saves and earned her third shutout of the season.
Brockport returns to action on Wednesday at 6:00 pm to take on Geneseo for a SUNYAC matchup at home.
