The College at Brockport Field Hockey team fell 4-0 against Geneseo in its final home game of the 2013 regular season on Wednesday night in a State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) game under the lights on Bob Boozer Field at Eunice Kennedy Shriver Stadium.
The Knights (9-6 Overall, 5-1 SUNYAC) held the Golden Eagles (5-7, 1-4) without a shot for 17 minutes, playing a tight defense. Brockport stood strong against a barrage of shots in the opening minutes of the game.
Jackie Massoni (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) registered the first shot of the game for the Golden Eagles at the 17 minute mark, but it went wide of the cage.
Two minutes after Brockport's first shot, the Knights struck with their first goal of the game off of a penalty corner.
The Golden Eagles had a few more shots during the half, but did not find the back of the cage.
Geneseo pushed the lead to two just before halftime with another goal off of a penalty corner.
The Knights played even more stingy defense in the second half, holding Brockport to only two total shots.
Geneseo added a third and a fourth goal at the 50- and 52-minute marks of the period.
Jessica Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) led the Golden Eagles on offense with three shots. Goalkeeper Lindsay Farrell (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) recorded 10 saves in the loss.
Brockport returns to action on Friday at Morrisville for the final SUNYAC matchup of the season at 4:00 pm.
