The College at Brockport field hockey team lost on the road to Houghton 1-0 on Wednesday evening.
Despite outshooting the Highlanders 12-4, the Golden Eagles could not manage to score a goal.
Brockport got out to an early start with a shot at 2:49, but the Houghton goalkeeper came up with a save. The Golden Eagles continued to pressure the Highlanders defense, but could not come up with a finish.
Jessica Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) got the ball past the goalkeeper mid-way through the period, but Houghton managed to earn a defensive save and keep Brockport scoreless.
The Golden Eagles defense held Houghton to only one shot in the first half.
Both teams had early opportunities to take the lead in the first half, but neither did. The Highlanders got on the board, scoring the only goal of the game at 47:41.
Emily Corpin (Peterboro, NY/Morrisville-Eaton) had two big shots in the final minutes of the game, but the Houghton goalkeeper saved the first and the defense recorded another defensive save.
The Golden Eagles return to action for the final game of the 2013 season on Saturday for a 1:00 pm matchup at Utica.
