Seniors Jessica Blind (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) and Emily Corpin (Peterboro, NY/Morrisville-Eaton) paced The College at Brockport field hockey team's explosive offense in a 5-1 win on the road over Nazareth on Wednesday afternoon.

The Golden Eagles started out strong from the whistle, taking control and drawing a penalty corner in the first 41 seconds. A shot by Corpin went just wide of the net. Two minutes later, the game was stopped for a lightning delay.

The delay did not affect the Golden Eagles as they came out and scored a goal 10 minutes after play resumed. Corpin notched her second goal of the season at 14:50 off a pass from Blind.

The Golden Flyers answered with a goal just over ten minutes later to tie the game up.

Less than a minute later, Brockport took the lead back and never looked back. Senior Gina Stephan (Clarence, NY/Clarence) scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Blind.

Opening up the second half, the Golden Eagles bombarded the Nazareth goalkeeper with shots but the Golden Flyers had a chance to tie the game at 2-2 but Stephan came up with a defensive save to preserve the one-goal lead for Brockport.

The defensive play sparked the Brockport offense and in the 59th minute Corpin tallied her second goal of the game. Not relinquishing control of the ball, Brockport pushed its lead to three with a goal from Blind less than four minutes later at 63:20.

The defense also played strong for the Golden Eagles, allowing Nazareth only two shots in the entire second half.

Capping off the scoring for Brockport was senior Jackie Massoni (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) with a goal at 64:56 as she tipped in a hard shot by Blind from the edge of the arch.

The Golden Eagles outshot the Golden Flyers 25-7 and also finished with a 10-4 advantage in penalty corners.

Brockport returns to action on September 18 for the season home opener against Wells at 4:00 pm.
