Freshman Amanda Riebe (Pleasant Valley, NY/Millbrook) had a season-high 20 kills leading The College at Brockport Volleyball team to a 3-1 victory over Hilbert College extending the Brockport winning streak to five matches Tuesday night at the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium in Brockport.

Brockport (9-6) won the opening game 25-16 but dropped a close 26-24 decision in the second game. The Golden Eagles responded with a 25-21 win in game three and finished the match with a 25-18 win in game four.

The 20 kills was a season best for Riebe and extended her streak of eight consecutive matches with double-digit kills.

In game one, Brockport jumped out to an early lead before Hilbert (4-10) scored five straight points for an 8-5 lead. The Golden Eagles called time out and regrouped scoring nine of the next 10 points and a 14-9 lead. The Hawks answered back one more time with four straight to cut the lead to 14-13 before Brockport rallied for six consecutive points and a 20-13 lead with Riebe scoring a pair of kills in the run.

In game two, the teams battled back and forth and Hilbert held a late 20-16 advantage before a Brockport time out. The Golden Eagles scored a pair of points but Hilbert answered back with two more before Brockport scored six of the next seven points to pull ahead 24-23. A Brockport kill attempt sailed out of bounds to even the score and the Hawks scored the final two points for the win to event the match at 1-1.

In game three, the score was even until Brockport rallied for six out of seven points when they trailed 15-14 taking a late 20-16 advantage. At 22-17, Hilbert scored four out of five points to narrow the gap to 23-21 before Brockport finished off the match with two unforced errors.

Hilbert jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the fourth game before a Brockport time out and a Golden Eagles rally with eight of the next 10 points. The score remained tight until late in the game with Brockport leading 17-15. The Golden Eagles scored six straight points with senior Mary Cocking (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) serving for a commanding 23-15 lead. The Hawks scored a couple late points before the Golden Eagles finished the game and the match.
