Junior Stephanie Schuler (Purcellville, VA/Hickory) won three events including a school-record score on the uneven bars leading The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to a 190.675-176.450 victory over Rhode Island College Sunday afternoon in the Tuttle North Gymnastics center in Brockport.
The meet was the final regular-season meet and the Golden Eagles honored seven seniors and two assistant coaches after the meet for their dedication to the Brockport Gymnastics program. Seniors Casey Addis (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown), Heidi Beckerich (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard), Kathryn Coghlan (Wappingers Falls, NY/John Jay East Fishkill), Lexi King (Glendale, AZ/Mountain Ridge), Gabrielle Petitto (Selden, NY/Newfield), Jessica Rockafellow (Grand Blanc, MI/Grand Blanc) and Samantha Spaid (Green, OH/Green) were honored along with senior student assistant coach Brittany Mercier and graduate assistant coach Jen Levinson.
Schuler won the vault with a 9.675 as Brockport (9-5) took each of the top six places in the event. The junior scored a school-record 9.8 winning the bars and finished with a top score of 9.525 on the balance beam for Brockport. Schuler topped the record set by Kaitlin Dewey in 2011 who scored a 9.775 in the event.
Brockport dominated the vault with all six Golden Eagles finishing with at least a 9.4. Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) and King had 9.625 scores followed by Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA/Walpole) with a 9.6, freshman Casey Sullivan (Honeoye Falls, NY/Honeoye Falls-Lima) with a 9.45 and Petitto with a 9.4.
Brockport had five of the top six scores on uneven bars led by Schuler's record. Sylvestro, Addis and Maddie O'Braitis (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) each scored 9.5 and Beckerich added a 9.425 for the Golden Eagles.
On the balance beam, Brockport finished with four of the top five scores on the day with Schuler leading the way again. Lily Jagodzinski (Tonawanda, NY/Williamsville North) was next with 9.45, Addis had a 9.35 and Amanda Rota (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) added a 9.25.
Carney, King and Sylvestro had near perfect floor routines as Carney and King each scored 9.8 while Sylvestro was awarded a 9.775 for her routine. Jennifer Sklenar (Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) scored 9.5, Jagodzinski had a 9.475 and Jill Daddario (Amherst, NY/Sweet Home) had a 9.4 as the Golden Eagles came home with the top six scores of the day on floor.
Brockport's 190.675 is the third highest team score in school history just 1/10th of a point away from the 190.775 ECAC Championship score last year and just shy of the 190.800 score from the 2012 Senior Day meet.
