Box Score Senior Abby Eschen (Cazenovia, NY/Cazenovia) scored the first goal of the game to give The College at Brockport Field Hockey team an early lead but No. 20 ranked University of Rochester responded quickly and scored a 4-1 win over Brockport Tuesday afternoon at Fauver Stadium in Rochester.
Eschen took a pass in the arc from Emilee Boddery (Greenwich, NY/Greenwich) and dodged past one defender before a reverse flip over the goalie's pad gave Brockport (2-7) the early lead 23 minutes into the contest.
Just over 45 seconds later, Rochester (8-0), ranked #20 in the latest NFHCA Poll released earlier in the day, answered to knot the score at 1-1.
The Yellowjackets took the lead for good 2:18 later with a rebounded shot into the back of the cage fpor a 2-1 advantage.
The lead remained just 2-1 at the halftime intermission.
In the second half, Rochester scored a pair of goals in a span of two minutes to take the 4-1 lead.
Making her first career start in place of the injured Lindsay Farrell (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker), senior Kayla Kulzer (Rochester, NY/Greece Olympia) made six saves for Brockport and played well facing 17 Rochester shots including 10 in the first half.
Offensively, Brockport was also without the services of sophomore
Nickole Morgan (Mamaroneck, NY/Rye Neck) but still managed to keep control in the offensive end of the field especially in the second half when Brockport held a 5-3 advantage in penalty corners. For the game, the Golden Eagles held an 8-7 advantage in penalty corners.
