Box Score 2 Junior Ashley Capone (Lowville, NY/Lowville) led The College at Brockport Volleyball team with a 0.324 hitting percentage after converting 37 attack attempts into 17 kills. Brockport dropped two matches Saturday in Oswego against Geneseo and Fredonia. The Golden Eagles were riding an eight match win streak until losing to the Knights 3-1 and the Blue Devils 3-2.
In the first match, the team was led by freshman Noelle Poloncarz (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) who finished with 22 assists, eight digs, two kills and two service aces against Geneseo. Sophomore Amanda Riebe (Pleasant Valley, NY/Millbrook) led the Golden Eagles with 11 kills against the Knights and senior Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Elmira) had 21 digs for the match. Capone chipped in nine kills.
Brockport won the first set against Geneseo 25-18 but then lost three straight by scores of 25-14, 25-16 and 25-20.
The Golden Eagles yet again jumped out to a 1-0 lead, in the second match, after beating Fredonia 25-11 in the first game. Brockport then lost the next two sets 25-16 and 25-15 before rallying to force a fifth and final set by winning 25-19. In the shortened decisive game five, Brockport lost 15-8.
Riebe led the team for the third straight match in kills, with nine against Fredonia and Capone added eight against the Blue Devils. Freshman Rachel Fiser (Visalia, CA/Golden West) led the team with 13 assists and the defensive standout Snyder once again led Brockport with 31 digs.
