Freshman Noelle Poloncarz (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park) handed out 26 assists, served two aces and chipped in with 11 digs for The College at Brockport Volleyball team Wednesday night in a non-conference match with NCAA Division II Roberts Wesleyan College. The Red Hawks won the first two sets of the match and finished with a 3-1 victory.

The Red Hawks won the first two sets 25-17 and 25-20 before Brockport (3-2) rebounded to take the third 25-23. In the final set of the night Roberts Wesleyan won 25-19.

The Golden Eagles had a 14-7 advantage in the first set, thanks to several kills set up by Poloncarz. Roberts Wesleyan answered with five straight points and a run of 13 out of 14 points turned the set around.

In the second set, Brockport battled back from a 19-12 disadvantage by scoring eight of the next 12 points to get within 23-20. Poloncarz got the team rolling in the third set with five straight points. She also helped close out the game by giving the Golden Eagles a 24- lead with one of her two aces.

For the final set, freshman Brianna Richardson (Syracuse, NY/West Genesee) recorded two of her eight kills on the night. She recorded a hitting percentage of 0.533 with eight kills in 15 attempts without an error. Senior Jaime Snyder (Elmira, NY/Thomas Edison) led the team with 27 digs for the night.

The Golden Eagles return to action at Houghton College for an 11 am match Saturday and also have a 1 pm match against Wells College at the Houghton College Invitational.
