Box Score BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Field Hockey team fell 3-0 Saturday afternoon to SUNY Cortland in a State University of New York Athletic Conference matchup at Bob Boozer Field in Brockport, N.Y.
Brockport (1-13 overall, 1-4 SUNYAC) found itself in an early deficit as Cortland (9-3, 4-0) scored in the fifth minute of play. The Golden Eagle defense stood tall for the remainder of the half, only allowing the Red Dragons to take three shots for the remainder of the first half. Cortland took a 1-0 lead to halftime.
Cortland tacked on another goal at the 47 minute mark as well as the 63rd minute to take a 3-0 win. The Red Dragons almost scored a fourth goal in the second half but Autumn Swavely made a defensive save to preserve the score. This is the second straight game Swavely tallied a defense save. Swavely leads the Golden Eagles with eight defensive saves this season.
Margo Tremaine had the lone shot for Brockport. Sarah Beam suffered her seventh loss of the season in goal after allowing three goals and making 16 saves. The 16 saves in one shy of the school record for most saves in a game which was tied by Paula Amo earlier this season.
The Golden Eagles have their last two regular season home games this week. On Wednesday they will face SUNY Geneseo at 4 p.m. then Keuka College comes to Brockport on Friday with a 6 p.m. scheduled start time.
