School Record on Senior Day for Gymnastics

Golden Eagles score 191.050 to beat Cortland

The 2015 Brockport Gymnastics seniors led the Golden Eagles to a school-record team score on Senior Day against Cortland

Senior Olivia Sylvestro (Palm City, FL/Martin County) won the vault, senior Stephanie Schuler (Purcellville, VA/Hickory) won the uneven bars and senior Lexi King (Glendale, AZ/Mountain Ridge) won the floor exercise leading The College at Brockport Gymnastics team to a school-record score of 191.050 as the Golden Eagles defeated Cortland Saturday afternoon on Senior Day in Brockport.

Brockport (9-4) won by a final score of 191.050-186.375. The 191.050 score breaks the school record of 190.800 set at the Brockport Invitational in 2012.

Brockport led the entire day after a great start on vault in the first rotation. Sylvestro led Brockport with a 9.65 while Schuler scored a 9.55, senior Haylee Garrick (Myrtle Beach, SC/Carolina Forest) was next at 9.425 and freshman Brittany Vasile (Erie, PA/Iroquois) added a 9.4 and King rounded out the scoring with a 9.375.

The Golden Eagles had another impressive score in the second rotation as they recorded four scores of at least 9.4. Schuler won the event with a 9.6, senior Natalie Manga (Fresh Meadows, NY/Benjamin N. Cardozo) and sophomore Maddie O'Braitis (Ashburn, VA/Broad Run) each score 9.475 and freshman Miranda Shaine (Bedford, NH/Bedford) chipped in a 9.4 for the Golden Eagles.

Brockport extended its lead in the third rotation with another solid performance on the balance beam. Junior Lily Jagodzinski (Tonawanda, NY/Williamsville North) led the Golden Eagles with a 9.70 while sophomore Jen Sklenar (Canfield, OH/Cardinal Mooney) added a 9.6 and junior Amanda Rota (Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook) added a 9.5. Sophomore Kendal Hamer (Ocala, FL/Trinity Catholic) had a 9.475 and Schuler capped the Brockport scoring with a 9.375.

The Golden Eagles saved their best for last, dominating the floor exercise with a team score of 48.750. King won the event with her 9.825 and fellow senior Amanda Carney (Walpole, MA/Walpole) came in with a 9.8 routine. Jagodzinski was next with a 9.725 and Sklenar and Vasile each scored 9.7 as Brockport sailed past the previous high team score to finish at 191.050.
