Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Field Hockey team won its first game of the 2015 season Friday afternoon downing State University of New York Athletic Conference opponent Morrisville State College 6-3 in Morrisville, N.Y. Brockport (1-8 overall, 1-1 SUNYAC) has now won the past ten meetings against Morrisville (1-5, 0-2).
"It took a whole team effort to win," said Head Coach Andrea Zurlo. "Every athlete contributed to the victory."
Amy Masciale scored four goals for the Golden Eagles, tying a single game record for goals in a game. Masciale scored the first goal of the game just over six minutes in as she was fed a pass across the circle from Margo Tremaine. Brockport scored two minutes later as Katherine Weyant drove into the circle and passed to Nicole Fazzolari who found the back of the net.
Morrisville answered back in the 17th minute but the dynamic duo of Masciale and Tremaine were at it again in the 24th minute. Tremaine again fed a pass to Masciale as she was driving into the circle to score her second of the game. Morrisville tacked on another goal late in the first half but Brockport was able to take a 3-2 lead to halftime.
Masciale kept the momentum going heading into the second half. The forward scored two goals four minutes apart to increase Brockport's lead to 5-3. Tremaine picked up an assist on the fourth goal of the game and the fifth was unassisted.
Tremaine picked up her fourth assist of the game on Brockport's final goal as she fed a pass to Kaitlin Croghan who capped off Brockport's 6-3 win.
The Golden Eagle offense set a season high with 36 shots. Sarah Beam earned her first of the season in goal, tallying four saves in the second half.
