BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport football team will return home for the Oct. 3 matchup where the Golden Eagles will host Alfred State College in a Homecoming matchup.
Brockport will be looking to bounce back this week after a double-overtime loss in the 11th annual Courage Bowl. The high-scoring affair saw 83 total points, with the Golden Eagles narrowly missing by a margin of 42-41. Despite the final score, there were several bright performances for the Green and Gold.
Junior
Dan Andrews again led the offensive production. Andrews was successful on both the ground and through the air for the Golden Eagles. He picked up nine catches for 120-yards and added 122 rushing yards on 23 carries for 242 total yards of offense. The Rochester native tallied 242 total yards in the contest, including four touchdowns, with two receptions and two rushing scores. Andrews currently leads the Empire 8
The Golden Eagles also earned a D3football.com Team of the Week member in
Jake O'Connell. The freshman came up with a game-changing play in the to force overtime vs. St. John Fisher. After the Cardinals managed the clock and worked the ball to the Brockport 10-yard line, looking to kick the game-winning field goal, O'Connell broke through the Cardinal line blocking the field goal to force overtime. He also picked up five tackles on the day, with one tackle for loss.
Heading into this week, the Golden Eagles take a break from conference play to face Alfred State College. This is only the second time in the programs history that they have met, with Alfred State posting a 1-0 series lead.
Following Brockport's meeting with the Pioneers, the Golden Eagles will prepare to face Empire 8 opponent Utica College. Brockport will enjoy the luxury of back-to-back homes games as they face off against Utica on Bob Boozer field on Oct. 10 at 7 p.m.
