SPRINGFIELD, Ma. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team posted a big win against Springfield College on Sunday, downing the Pride 188.125-183.900.
The Golden Eagles used several strong performances to leap ahead of the competition. In Brockport's opening rotation, the Green a Gold build a sound lead on the uneven bars, with a team score of 45.925 to their counterparts 43.725.
Maddie O'Braitis led the way, placing second in the event with a score of 9.525 on bars.
Caitlin Elsadek finished fourth with a score of 9.425.
On the second event, the Golden Eagles strong showing continued.
Bridgette Schaal took first on the vault, scoring a 9.525, while
Brittany Vasile tied for third in the event, scoring a 9.450.
Brockport continued to stand out, and in their third rotation, on the floor, the Golden Eagles outscored the Pride, 47.675-46.350. The Green and Gold swept the top four spots on the event, with
Lily Jagodzinski taking first with a commanding routine that scored a 9.700.
Candis Kowalik and
Brittany Vasile tied for second with a pair of 9.600 while
Meghan Cash turned in a 9.500 to take fourth.
In the Golden Eagles final rotation on the beam, they out matched their opponents again, this time with a score of 47.575-46.825. Jagodzinski kept her strong performance going, scoring a 9.700 to take second. Jennifer Sklenar and Kowalik took third and fourth respectively, with scores of 9.675 and 9.650.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action at home on Jan. 30 when they host Ithaca College.
