BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team picked up a decisive win on Saturday against Ithaca College in the Tuttle North Gymnastics Center, downing the bombers with a score of 191.650-183.775.
In the first rotation, the Golden Eagles had a strong showing on the vault, capturing the top three scores.
Stephanie Mager took first with a vault of 9.575 with
Bridgette Schaal close behind with a 9.550.
Brittany Vasile placed third with a 9.525 while
Candis Kowalik scored a 9.475 for fourth.
The Brockport dominance continued on the uneven bars, with several personal bests in the event. The Golden Eagles took the top five spots, with Maddie O'Bratis and
Miranda Shaine tying for first overall with scores of 9.700. Caitlyn Elsadek took third with a score of 9.600 with
Marissa Piper and
Allison Hester taking fourth with scores of 9.500
On the beam, the Green and Gold continued its strong performances, taking the first five places.
Lily Jagodzinski took first with a 9.725 while
Candis Kowalik and Jen Skelnar placed second and third with scores of 9.625 and 9.525.
Kendra Bushart placed fourth with a score of 9.500, with Alexis Frankowski rounding out the top five with a 9.250.
On the final rotation, the Golden Eagles finished out just as strong as they started, capturing the top four sports.
Meghan Cash placed first over all with a 9.825 score on the floor. Kowalik and Vasile tied for second with scores of 9.775 and Jagodzinski placed fourth with a score of 9.725.
Brockport will be back in action on Feb. 7 in their annual Stick it to Cancer meet against Rhode Island College. The event will raise money to benefit the Golisano Children's hospital. The meet will also be the Golden Eagle's final home meet of the season and will be senior day. The two senior members of the Golden Eagles squad, Jagodzinski and
Amanda Rota will both be honored.
