CORTLAND, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team picked up a big win on the road against SUNY Cortland on Saturday, as the Golden Eagles downed the Red Dragons, 189.175-185.875.
On Brockport's opening rotation, the Green and Gold took the top two spots on the uneven bars, with
Maddie O'Braitis scoring a 9.575 and
Miranda Shaine placing second with a 9.525.
Marissa Piper placed sixth with a 9.150 as the Golden Eagles outmatched Cortland in the event with a team score of 45.875-45.800.
The Golden Eagles took the top two scores in rotation two on the vault, with
Stephanie Mager scoring a 9.725 and
Candis Kowalik vaulting a 9.700.
Brittany Vasile finished in a tie for third, with a score of 9.625. Again, Brockport outpaced their opponents in the event with a tally of 48.00-47.750.
The Green and Gold's final two rotations were their strongest of the meet, with the third rotation of floor seeing Brockport take four of the top six spots.
Lily Jagodzinski took first with a 9.750, with Kowalik placing in a tie for second with a 9.650. Megahn Cash and Vasile finished in fifth and sixth respectively, with a 9.600 and a 9.575.
On their final rotation of the day, the Golden Eagles left it all on the beam, capturing five of the top six scores. Jagodzinski won her second event of the day with a score of 9.725 while
Kendal Hamer and Jennifer Sklenar tie for third with scores of 9.550 each. Kowalik took fifth with a score of 9.450 while
Kendra Bushart placed sixth with a score of 9.150.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Feb. 28 when they head to Ithaca College for the Ithaca Invitational.
