BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team competed in their annual Stick it to Cancer meet on Sunday against Rhodes Island College, where they picked up a solid 189.400-175.575 win.
The Golden Eagles started strong in their opening rotation on the vault with
Bridgette Schaal and
Stephanie Mager tying for first with scores of 9.550.
Jen Sklenar and
Candis Kowalik placed in a tie for fourth, with scores of 9.475.
On the bars, the Green and Gold shined above their competition. In the second rotation Brockport took the top four spots in the event.
Maddie O'Braitis took first with a score of 9.550.
Marla Thomas finished in second with a 9.525, with
Miranda Shaine taking third with a 9.475 routine.
Allison Hester placed fourth in the event, scoring a 9.050.
Brockport continued its strong meet on the beam, claiming the top four sports again.
Candis Kowalik took first in the event with a score of 9.700.
Kendal Hamer placed second with a 9.475 and Alexis Frankowski took third with a 9.450.
Jen Sklenar rounded out the top four with a routine of 9.300.
The Golden Eagles capped off the meet on the floor with their best team score of the day, a 48.300 taking the top five scores in the event.
Lily Jagodzinski took first with a score of 9.850.
Brittany Vasile and
Candis Kowalik took second and third respectively with scores of 9.775 and 9.750.
Meghan Cash and
Jen Sklenar rounded out the top five with Cash turning in a 9.575 and Sklenar finishing with a 9.350.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on the road, when they head to the Cornell Invitational on Feb. 14.
