BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team continues to climb the ranks in a tight National Collegiate Gymnastics Association ranking.
The Golden Eagles are a mere .0062 behind the leaders University of Wisconsin at Whitewater, with a team season average of 190.1313. The University of Wisconsin at La Crosse rests in third with a team season average of 190.1125. Ursinus College and SUNY Cortland round out the top five, with season averages of 188.2625 and 187.7000 respectively.
Brockport can also boast of several strong individuals in the rankings. The Green and Gold claim the top two spots in the nation on the floor with
Lily Jagodzinski and
Candis Kowalik going one-two in the rankings. Jagodzinski has scored a season average of 9.7688 on the floor, with Kowalik resting in second with a 9.7375.
Brittany Vasile sits in fifth in the nation, with an average of 9.7188.
The Golden Eagles also placed three in the top ten of the beam rankings. Jagodzinski leads the pack on the beam, with a season average of 9.7125. Kowalik's season average of 9.6563 is good enough for a fifth place ranking on the season, while Jen Skelnar rests in ninth place with a 9.6188 season average.
On the vault and bars, the Golden Eagles have a pair of athletes in the top ten of each. On the bars,
Maddie O'Braitis ranks third with a season average of 9.6188, while on the vault,
Stephanie Mager's 9.6063 is good enough for ninth overall in the nation.
The Golden Eagles head to the Regional Qualifier meet this weekend, March 6 looking to punch their ticket to the NCGA National Championships. The NCGA National Championships will be hosted by The College at Brockport on March 18-19.
