ITHACA, N.Y. – Jonathan Haas of the Brockport wrestling team has been named the Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference (ECWC) Wrestler of the Week for the week ending November 19th, 2017. The selection comes on the heels of Haas moving up in the polls to the No. 1 spot of the 125-lb class last week.
 
This is the second time in as many weeks that the Golden Eagle wrestling team has been honored with wrestlers of the week, after Triston Engle won the first ECWC honor of the season last week.
 
Haas moved to 14-0 on the season with his victory in the 125-lb weight class of the New York State Championships. His closest bout came in the round of 16 when he defeated Binghamton's Audey Ashkar by a 5-2 decision as part of two victories over Division I opponents on the day. His championship bout was against Colton Cummings of United States Military Academy, who Haas pinned in 3:45 to earn the title.
 
The senior finished the 2016-17 season with a third place finish at NCAA Nationals, and is hoping to improve on that finish this year in his pursuit of a national title.
 
The wrestling team will be back in action on December 2nd when they travel to York, Pa. for the annual New Standard Invitational.
