ITHACA, N.Y. – In the Harriet Marranca Memorial Invitational, The College at Brockport gymnastics team took second place in a quad meet with a team score of 187.725.
Ursinus College won the meet, scoring a 188.825, while Ithaca College finished in third with a score of 186.550, and Rhodes Island College scored a 177.900 for fourth place. The Golden Eagles improve to 12-3 on the season, while the Bombers are now 4-10, the Anchorman fall to 1-18 and the Bears move to 4-8.
With a lot of fresh faces in the lineup for the Green and Gold, head coach
John Feeney's squad started the meet on the uneven bars, taking second with a team score of 45.825.
Maddie O'Braitis took first overall, turning in a 9.625. Alison Hester (9.275) finished in seventh, while
Kaylee Wead (9.125) and
Casey Sullivan (9.100) took ninth and 10th respectively.
On the beam, the Golden Eagles turned in their highest score of the meet, a 47.875, good enough for second overall. Again, the Green and Gold took the first place slot, this time
Erica Roth stepped up, scoring a 9.800.
Candis Kowalik (9.775) took third, and
Kendal Hamer (9.750) placed in fourth.
Brockport went one-two on the floor, en route to a team score of 47.100, and second overall.
Bridgette Schaal placed first, scoring a 9.675 while Sullivan took second with a routine scoring a 9.650.
Alyssa Klock and
Madison O'Malley broke the top 10, with Klock's 9.450 snagging seventh and O'Malley's 9.425 earning eighth.
The Green and Gold rounded out the meet on the vault, posting a team score of 46.925. Hester and Schaal were the top Golden Eagle finishers, who each scored a 9.500 for a second place tie. Wead tied for seventh, vaulting a 9.400
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Mach 5 when they head to Collegeville, Pa. to take on Ursinus College.
