ITHACA, N.Y. – The College at Brockport Gymnastics team went head-to-head against Ithaca College on Sunday, bringing home a win over the Bombers, by a score of 188.375-186.950.
The Golden Eagles continued to shine bright on the floor, notching their highest score of the meet, a 48.400, bypassing Ithaca's team score of 47.775.
Candis Kowalik led the way on the event, taking first with a score of 9.775, with
Bridgette Schaal right on her heels, grabbing second with a score of 9.725.
Stephanie Mager took third, scoring a 9.675.
Brockport made great strides on the bars, turning in their second highest score of the meet on the event, a 47.050, easily defeating Ithaca's 45.850 mark.
Miranda Shaine led the Green and Gold charge, with a 9.650, while the Golden Eagles took the third and fourth spots, with Schaal (9.400) placing second, and
Amy Eck and Mager (9.375) tying for fourth.
The Green and Gold narrowly edged their counterparts on the vault, with a score of 46.925 to the Bomber's 46.650. Mager tied for first in the event, with a score of 9.525, while the Golden Eagles swept the next two spots, with
Shelby Schumaker and Kowalik taking third with scores of 9.450.
Jamie Sklenar snagged sixth in the event, with her vault earning a 9.350.
The Golden Eagles narrowly missed on the beam, turning in a team score of 46.000, falling to Ithaca's 46.675. Brockport's Kowalik took the top spot in the event however, scoring a 9.700 on the apparatus.
Taylor Keough finished in fourth with a 9.500, while Mager placed sixth with a score of 9.300.
Mager was the only athlete to compete in all four events, turning in an all-around score of 37.875.
The Golden Eagles will return to action on Jan. 27 when they head to Springfield, Mass. to compete in the Springfield College Quad Meet.
