ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The College at Brockport field hockey team takes a quick break from conference play Wednesday to take on neighboring St. John Fisher College at. 7 p.m.
Move Over Mustangs: The Golden Eagles picked up their first conference win on Saturday against Morrisville State in an offense heavy, 5-2 win.
Renee Lauer provided the first two goals for the Green and Gold, kick starting the offense.

Katelynn Mello then each added a goal of their own as well. The Golden Eagles produced 31 total shots and 22 shots on goal against the Mustangs while forcing 10 penalty corners.
Nearing Post Season: This weekend the Golden Eagles are scheduled to face Oswego State (1-3) in their final home contest of the season. After the Lakers, the Golden Eagles only have two more conference opponents left, with Oneonta and Geneseo closing out the regular season. The Green and Gold are looking to make a run at the post season, currently sitting fifth overall, and just on the fringe of a tournament selection. The top four teams in the SUNYAC will get a shot at the conference title.
SUNYAC Leaderboard: The Golden Eagles currently rank second overall in the conference in goals (41), goals per game (3.2) and assists (29) while holding first place in defensive saves with 12. After Saturday's scoring frenzy, the Green and Gold have three members who rank in the top 10 in goals. Lurz leads the pack tied for fourth with eight goals, followed by Lauer and Ziemba tied for sixth with seven. Ziemba also finds herself atop the list in assists and total points, sitting tied for third overall in assists with six and fourth overall in points with 20.
Dominant Cardinals Offense: The Cardinals dominated the playing field in the 2018 season against the Golden Eagles, recording four goals in the first half of the game, solidifying a 5-1 win on the day. The Green and Gold faced 25 total shots and 16 on goal by the Cardinals, recording 11 total saves. Mello picked up her sixth goal of the season against the Cardinals for the lone goal of the game off an assist from Ziemba.
What To Expect: The Cardinals enter Wednesday's matchup with a 9-3 overall record and 3-0 in conference play. The team is coming off of an Empire 8 Championship appearance in the 2018 season, where they saw a close defeat by Washington and Jefferson College, 1-0. The Cardinals are currently averaging 2.92 goals per game and 20.3 shots per game for a solid .631 shot on goal percentage. The offense is led by junior Bre Socker who has a substantial role on the front line, having recorded 17 goals and three assists this season, in addition to three of which were game winners. Senior Lindsay Scott has been essential to the Cardinals in helping provide offensive opportunities, leading the team with nine assists.
