Volleyball Welcomes Conference Opponents Fredonia and Buffalo State to Brockport

BROCKPORT, N.Y. -  The College at Brockport volleyball team has another full conference weekend ahead as they welcome Fredonia and Buffalo State to the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium on Friday and Saturday.

Last Time They Met: The Golden Eagles brought home two wins against these two competitors in the 2018 season, taking a close 3-2 five set match from the Blue Devils and a quick 3-0 match from the Bengals.

The Blue Devils and Golden Eagles met a similar point in their season last year, both with eight wins under their belt. Despite taking the Blue Devils to five sets, the Green and Gold's offense was effective in executing the offense as they recorded double digit kills in each set to finish the night with a total of 67. Lindsey Luce and Meaghan Mastro led the team in kills with 17 and 12 respectively.

The Bengals showed up a little later in the Golden Eagles season, entering the matchup with only three total wins. The Golden Eagles swept the Bengals in three sets (25-19, 25-16, 25-20), not allowing them within more than five points. The strength of the Green and Gold's offense was evident as they collectively hit above .300% in two of the three sets. Once again Mastro and Luce were the driving forces of the Golden Eagles offense, accounting for 18 of the teams 41 kills.

What To Expect:

Fredonia- The Blue Devils are entering the weekend with a record of 7-9, 1-2 in conference play. Despite being under .500, they lead their opponents by over 100 attempts overall. Junior Emma Booth, leads the team in kills with 182. Sierra Kiem leads defensively with 273 digs this season.

Buffalo State- The Bengals have had a tough season currently holding a record of 5-10, 0-3 in conference play, although they've picked up two of those wins in their last five matches. Alena McKelvey has 27 service aces this year and Brooke Federko has 418 assists the next highest player has 33.

K/S: 9.7, A/S: 9.0, SA/S: 2.0, D/S: 17.3, B/S: 1.4
