Brockport's Season Tips-Off Tuesday Night at Morrisville

Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport men's basketball team will open up the 2019-2020 season on the road Tuesday, November 12th against Morrisville State. The first tip-off of the year is set for 6 pm.
 
Getting it Dunne: Head Coach Greg Dunne is entering his 12th season as the leader of the program at Brockport. Since being hired in 2007, he has compiled a record of 209-125 and has had 11 winning seasons. Coach Dunne has led the program to two conference championships (2009 & 2014) and three appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
 
Last Season: In the 2018-19 season the Golden Eagles finished 17-11 overall and 11-7 in SUNYAC play. The team made a trip to the conference championship game, losing a close one to Oswego, 55-50. Justin Summers was named First-Team All-Conference, Third-Team All-East Region, and NABC Second-Team All-District. Danny Ashley was named Rookie of the Year in the SUNYAC. Heading in to the new year Brockport has conference championship aspirations, looking to win its first SUNYAC title since the 2013-14 season.
 
Pre-Season Recognition: At the end of October, D3Hoops.com released its pre-season top 25 rankings. Brockport was recognized as one of three teams in the SUNYAC to receive votes in the poll. Oswego and Oneonta are the other two conference teams getting votes.
 
Pre-Season All-American: After averaging 17.1 points and 8.2 rebounds per game last season, Justin Summers has pulled in pre-season recognition going into his senior year. He was selected as a Third-Team Pre-Season All-American by D3Hoops.com and received a Pre-Season All-American Honorable Mention in the D3 News, October newsletter.
 
Key Returners: Pre-season All-American, Justin Summers, and last year's SUNYAC Rookie of the Year, Danny Ashley, headline the returners for Brockport this season. Other key players back for the Green and Gold include Tyler Collins and Jahidi Wallace, both of whom averaged over 10 points a game last year. Antonio Alvarez is another key player that is coming back, after making 15 starts as a sophomore last season.
 
New Faces: The team is also welcoming six new players to the roster for the upcoming season. The newest freshman on the roster this year is Joseph Pena. The rest of the newcomers are junior transfer players which includes: Tyler Sullivan, Malick Sylla, Tyree Grimsley, Mahammed Kajakhe, and Jared Fish.
 
Scouting Morrisville: The Mustangs ended the year with a record of 23-5 overall and went 15-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference. Defeating SUNY Poly, 91-73, Morrisville won the NEAC Championship last season and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament. Kevin Dennis is back for one more year at Morrisville, after leading the team with averages of 20.9 points and 14.4 rebounds a game as a junior.
 
Last Meeting: Last year Brockport took down Morrisville, 96-77, behind a dominating performance by Justin Summers. He finished with a double-double, posting 35 points and 12 rebounds while also adding five blocks. Summers shot 11-for-12 at the charity stripe and 55% from the floor. Turning defense into easy offense, the team scored 24 points off of turnovers while Morrisville had just six.

Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles will have a week to prepare following the season opener for their home opener on Tuesday, November 19th. They will host Hobart College for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
