BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport gymnastics team hosted the annual Stick it to Cancer meet on Saturday, besting SUNY Cortland in rout to the 190.000-184.025 win.
The victory moves the Golden Eagles to 9-2 on the season while the Red Dragons fall to 1-10 in 2019.
Head coach
John Feeney's squad dominated from start to finish, posting a strong score of 47.975 on the vault to open the meet.
Stephanie Mager and
Candis Kowalik led the way, both scoring 9.725's on the event.
Nicole Jackson wasn't far off pace, turning in a 9.650 for third.
Rachel Doll and
Alexis Castellaneta rounded out the scoring for the Green and Gold, posting a 9.4785 and 9.400 respectively.
On the bars, Brockport kept the strong pace rolling, with Doll the top Brockport performer, notching a third-place finish of 9.375. Jackson and
Courtney Kamberalis were right on her heels, adding a pair of 9.350's.
Taylor Keough added a 9.325 while Kowalik's 9.200 rounded out the scoring, giving Brockport a team score of 46.600 on the event.
Kimberly Musall led the charge on the beam with a personal record performance, notching a 9.625 to lead all scorers. Castellaneta finished just behind her with a 9.500, followed by
Alexis Frankowski notching a 9.425 and Mager chipping in a 9.400. The team posted a 47.050 on the event, besting the Red Dragons.
The Golden Eagles dominated on the floor, posting a score of 48.375 to Cortland's 47.450. Musall and Keough tied for first on the event, earning a pair of 9.750's. Mager and Castellaneta were just behind, with scores of 9.675 and 9.650 respectively, while Kowalik turned in the final counting score, a 9.500.
Kowalik capped off a strong day for the Golden Eagles, notching the top spot on the All-Around results leaderboard with a 37.575.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action on Feb. 24 when they travel to Ithaca, N.Y. to compete in the Ithaca College Invitational.
