BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's volleyball team is gearing up for its second weekend of competition as they head to Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University for a full weekend of play. On Friday, the Golden Eagles travel to Clarkson where they will matchup against D'Youville College at 6 p.m. followed by Wheaton College at 8:30 p.m. The team will then travel over to St. Lawrence University where they will face the home team at 1 p.m. and then close out the weekend with Franklin and Marshall College at 3 p.m.
Opening Weekend Recap: The Golden Eagles opened up the 2019 season in Alliance, Ohio where they competed in the Mount Union Tournament. With a number of new athletes taking the court for the first time, the Green and Gold demonstrated a lot of strong fundamentals to build off of going forward. The team started the weekend strong with a clean 3-0 win over The College of Wooster, however found tough competitors in the University of Mount Union and Muskingum University. In their final matchup against Earlham College, the Golden Eagles took the Quakers to the fifth set, where they were narrowly edged out 3-2.
Mastro Earns All-Tournament Recognition: Junior
Meaghan Mastro has been a key asset for the Golden Eagles on both sides of the ball. The middle blocker, although generally a defensive player, has mastered skills that have allowed her to act as an offensive threat for the Green and Gold as well. Mastro amassed 50.5 total points on the weekend while recording 37 kills, 36 digs and 12 blocks in four games.
