Gymnastics Improves Win Streak to Four with Senior Day Sweep

BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The College at Brockport women's gymnastics team remains undefeated as they moved past both Ithaca and Springfield College Saturday afternoon. The Golden Eagles honored their five seniors during the meet as the team will head on the road for the remainder of the season. With the pair of win the Green and Gold improve to a perfect 4-0 on the season.

Highlights:
 
Vault – The Green and Gold opened up the afternoon on the vault, posting a 47.325 team score. Nikki Jackson was the leading gymnast in the event, bringing home a first place 9.625 finish. Jackson was joined in the top five by teammates Lexi Castellaneta (9.475) and Rachel Doll (9.450) who finished fourth and fifth respectively.
 
Uneven Bars – Even though the bars were the Golden Eagles weakest team score of the day with a 46.350, the team was still able to nail the top three finishes of the afternoon. Amy Eck led the way with a new personal record, finishing first with a 9.500 finish. Doll and Jackson followed suit, securing second and third place; Doll tying her personal record in the event with 9.475 and Jackson setting a new personal record with a score of 9.425.
 
Beam – The Golden Eagles dominated on the balance beam as well, posting three top five finishes from Castellaneta, Jenson Todd and Shelby Schumaker. Castellaneta picked up her first of two first-place finishes on the vault, nailing an even 9.700. Todd joined her amongst the ranks, posting a 9.675 finish for second-place. Schumaker closed out the top five, marked at 9.525 for a fourth-place tie. The Green and Gold posted a 47.800 team score for their second-best finish of the day.
 
Floor Exercise – Castellaneta closed out a successful day on the floor, nailing another first place finish and personal best 9.775 score. The sophomore set the bar high, holding her teammates to the same standard. Courtney Kamberalis, Kim Musall and Kyra Figurelli commanded the third, fourth and fifth leaderboard spots, marked at 9.675, 9.625 and an even 9.600 respectively. The Golden Eagles continued their trend of achievement on the floor, posting their strongest team finish of the day in the event with a 48.025.
 
What's Ahead: The Golden Eagles are scheduled to meet with Southern Connecticut State University next Sunday for a 1 p.m. matchup.
