Men's Hoops Goes to Geneseo for SUNYAC Battle

Brockport, NY – The College at Brockport men's basketball team is on the road Saturday for just one contest this weekend. Brockport is set to face Geneseo for a 4 pm tip-off.

Last Time Out: In its last game Brockport convincingly defeated New Paltz at home, 88-59. Five players scored double-digits in the win, with Jahidi Wallace tops on the team with 17 points. Devante Hagins did it all with 12 points, eight boards, three blocks and three steals. Danny Ashley, Tyler Collins, and Tyler Sullivan all put up at least 10 points. Green and Gold's victory puts the record at 11-3 overall and 6-1 in the conference. Brockport remains undefeated at 7-0 on its home court.

Finding a Rhythm: Over the last two outings, Danny Ashley has gotten it going on the offensive end with his two highest scoring outputs of the season. Last year's SUNYAC Rookie of the Year recorded a season-high 15 points and six assists on 7-for-12 shooting against Oneonta. He then tallied 14 points, five assists, and four steals versus New Paltz to register his first back-to-back double-digit scoring performances of the season.

Picking Up Steam: The Golden Eagles are the winners of four straight and have five wins in their last six contests. This is the second time this season the team has gained momentum with multiple wins in a row, going on a six-game hot streak earlier in the year. Picking up steam heading into the thick of SUNYAC competition will be valuable as Brockport looks to take the top spot in the conference standings.

Winning Big: During this solid stretch of wins, the Green and Gold have been borderline dominant, with only one of the five most recent wins being by less than 20 points. Brockport defeated Alfred by 23 points, Plattsburgh by 22 points, Buffalo State by 19 points, Oneonta by 20 points, and New Paltz by 29 points.

SUNYAC Picture: With a record of 6-1 in SUNYAC play, Brockport is tied with Potsdam and Oneonta for the top spot, with both have 6-1 conference marks as well. Oswego is a game behind with a 5-2 record in league play. Cortland rounds out the top five with a 4-3 SUNYAC record and being the last team in the conference standings to have a winning record. All remaining conference competitors are below .500 both overall and in the SUNYAC.

Scouting Geneseo: The Geneseo Knights are 5-9 overall and 2-5 in SUNYAC competition. The team's most recent loss to Oneonta makes it three losses in the last four outings. Michael Gannon leads the team in scoring as one of three double-digit scorers for Geneseo, averaging 13.3 points a game. Terrance Nichols and Alex Merhige are the other Knights averaging double figures in the scoring column.

Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles are on the road again Tuesday, January 31st as they travel to take on Buffalo State. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
