Men's Hoops Seeks Undefeated Home Season on Senior Day

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is at home on Saturday for its final home game of the regular season. Its Senior Day, as the team will honor five seniors prior to the 4 pm tip-off against Geneseo.

Senior Day: Before tip-off Brockport will hold a short ceremony for its seniors that are participating in the final regular season home game of their careers. The group of seniors includes Peter Farkas, Darius Townsend, Tyler Collins, Monte Stroman, and Justin Summers.

Offensive Explosion: The Golden Eagles put on their most dominant performance of the year in a 104-57 blowout win over Fredonia last outing. They set a new season-high with 104 points and the bench contributed a season-high 57 points. Brockport finished the contest with a 47-point win margin, 27 assists, 57.1% shooting from deep, 59.6% shooting from the field, and 19 steals which were all season-bests for a game. Additionally, the team hit a season-high 16 three-pointers in the contest, which is tied for the second most ever in a game in school history and just one shy of tying the school record.

#1 in the Region: The first round of NCAA Division III regional rankings was released on Wednesday, February 12th and featured Brockport at #1 in the East region. With a record of 18-3 overall the team is ahead of three other SUNYAC team's in the regional rankings. Oneonta, Potsdam, and Oswego all made the list. Brockport holds the top spot, while RPI and Hobart round out the top three.

Receiving Votes: For the second week in a row the Green and Gold sit in the receiving votes category in the D3hoops.com national poll. The team is now up to 15 votes and has only two schools, on the outside of the top 25, attaining more votes (Albion 27 & UW-La Crosse 20).

12 in a Row: The Golden Eagles are now on a 12-game winning streak, the longest streak since the 2013-14 season. They went on to win 15 straight games that year, finishing the season with a 24-4 record overall and 16-2 in the conference. The team won the SUNYAC Championship in 2013-14 and went on to compete in the NCAA Tournament. Brockport looks for win number 13 in a row against Geneseo.

Seeking Home Perfection: With its best home start in over a decade, Brockport is currently 10-0 at home this season with just one more regular season home game on Saturday. A win this weekend against Geneseo would guarantee an undefeated regular season record at home for the first time since the 2007-08 season. That year the team went on to win the ECAC Division III Upstate Championship.

Geneseo Matchup: The Knights are currently 9-13 overall and 6-9 in SUNYAC play heading into the weekend. Brockport took the 77-62 victory over Geneseo on the road the last time these two teams faced off. Tyler Collins hit four shots from long range in the win, finishing with a team-high 16 points and had six steals. Geneseo has won three of its last four games, with its most recent win coming against Buffalo State, 78-62.

Final Week: Following this weekend's contest the team only has two games left to play in the regular season. With a spot in the SUNYAC Tournament already clinched, the final week of play will be crucial to the official seeding for the postseason. The Golden Eagles will travel to take on Cortland and Oswego on the 21st and 22nd next weekend.
