Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is on the road Tuesday night for a non-conference matchup against Hobart College. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7 pm out in Geneva, NY.
Bounce Back Win: Brockport defeated Morrisville State at home last week to even up its record at 1-1 so far this season. The victory made it 18 straight wins in the Jim and John Vlogianitis Gymnasium for the squad.
Jahidi Wallace came up one rebound shy of a double-double, leading the way with 15 points and nine boards. Wallace was one of four double-digit scorers, as
David Grady III,
Antonio Alvarez, and
Monte Johnson each poured in at least 10 points in the win.
Leading Scorers: Jahidi Wallace is the leading scorer for the Green and Gold early on this year. Wallace is averaging 15.5 points per game as one of two players averaging double-digits.
David Grady III is the second leading scorer, pouring in 12.5 points per game. The junior has proven to be a great addition to the team in his first couple games here at Brockport.
Antonio Alvarez and
Devante Hagins are just under 10 points per game, averaging 9.0 and 8.5 points a night respectively.
Doing it All: Devante Hagins continues to impact the game at each level with his effort and intensity. Hagins is currently leading the Golden Eagles in rebounds, assists, and steals. This is match by him ranking second on the team in blocks and fourth on the team in scoring. Filling up the stat sheet, he finished with 13 points, eight rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block in the season opener against Alfred.
Hobart Matchup: The Hobart Statesmen enter the contest with a 2-1 record, having yet to play a home game. In a high scoring affair, they defeated Keuka College, 129-89, and also defeated SUNY Poly, 65-48, before falling to Oswego, 63-48. #25 Jackson Meshanic leads the way averaging 17.3 points and 9.7 rebounds a game while shooting 68.8% from the field. Averaging 10 points a night, #13 Chandler Owenby is second in scoring. The Statesmen are going into the matchup shooting 50.8% from the field, 27.9% from long range, and 57.4% from the foul line.
Looking Ahead: The Golden Eagles are on the road again next week for a trip to Brooklyn, NY. They take on Brooklyn College for a 5 pm tip-off on Tuesday, November 23
