Brockport Athletes Hit Multiple AARTFC Marks on Friday

Rochester, NY – The SUNY Brockport track and field team competed on Friday at the Redhawks Capstone Meet hosted by Roberts Wesleyan.
 
Alayna Fredenburg took the win in the women's javelin with a distance of 38.52. Her throw qualifies her for the All-Atlantic Regional Track & Field Championships (AARTFC).
 
Tony DeYoung and Art Jordan took first and second place in the men's shot put. With throws of 16.75 meters and 15.12 meters respectively, both throwers reached AARTFC qualifying marks. Sarah Crockett's 13.75-meter throw in the shot put earned her first place and a spot at the AARTFC.
 
In the hammer throw event Fredenburg recorded another AARTFC qualifying mark of 47.81 meters to take fourth. Placing seventh-eighth-ninth in the event, Sarah Crockett (45.33m), Emma Kinnicutt (43.96m), and Olivia George (43.68) also threw AARTFC qualifying distances.
 
Four more throwers on the men's side earned AARTFC qualifying distances in the hammer throw. Matthew Jackson (53.23m), Elijah Washington (52.41m), Matt Faulise (51.25), and Tony DeYoung (47.33m) all finished inside the top 10 on the day.
 
Emma Kinnicutt and Olivia George also threw AARTFC qualifying distances in the discus event, with tosses of 36.01 and 35.65 meters respectively. With a distance of 45.19 meters in the men's discus, Art Jordan earned AARTFC credits as well.
 
Brianna Lawless continues her solid 2021 campaign with a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a 26.00 finish. With this time, she qualifies for the AARTFC for the event. Chanyce Powell's seventh place triple jump of 10.93 meters was good for AARTFC qualifications as well.
 
With a time of 12:29.09 in the women's 3000-meter steeplechase, Katie Adams took second place and also earned her spot at the AARTFC. Teammate Veronica Daily was third in the event on the day with a time of 12:42.08.
 
In the men's 5000-meter run, Marius Sidlauskas ran an AARTFC qualifying time of 14:46.89 to secure second place at the meet.
 
Matthew Then's 14th place finish for the men's 200-meter was clocked at 24.98. Griffin Buck finished third in his heat with a time of 1:03.76 in the men's 400-meter, taking 23rd overall in the event. Jason Marincic took eighth in the javelin with a toss of 37.36 meters.
 
Rose Pitman finished in 19:08.76 to snag 11th place in the women's 5000-meter run. Sydney Steger was close behind for a 15th place finish with a 19:23.96 mark.
 
In the first heat of the women's 800-meter run, freshman Ashley Martinez took fifth by clocking in at 2:31.46. Martinez's time was good for 25th at the meet. Classmate Thomas Kressly placed 28th in the men's 800-meter with a time of 2:04.85.

The Golden Eagles are back in action on May 19th and 20th to compete at the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Championships next week. Day one will begin on Wednesday, hosted by St. John Fisher College.
