Brockport, NY – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) released its 2020-21 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll which recognizes student-athletes with a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average (GPA).
196 Brockport student-athletes earned a spot on the list, matching the department's total from the 2019-20 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. This year over 1,700 student-athletes have made this list from across the SUNYAC's 10 full member institutions and one associate member institution.
With 24 student-athletes keeping a 3.30 GPA or higher, the Golden Eagle gymnastics squad led the department with 24 making the honor roll. The women's cross country, track and field team was close behind with 23 student-athletes rewarded for excellence in the classroom.
The men's cross country, track and field team led the men's sports with 15 student-athletes on the list. Baseball was right there as well with 14 names on the 2020-21 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
There are nine teams on campus that had at least 10 student-athletes maintain the necessary GPA of 3.30 or higher for the year. This includes gymnastics, men and women track and field/cross country, women's soccer, women's lacrosse, baseball, football, men's lacrosse and men's ice hockey.
The senior and graduate student-athletes for Brockport led the department, earning 78 spots on the 2020-21 Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll. The junior class had 59 student-athletes earn this honor, while there were 36 sophomores and 20 freshmen as well.
Brockport's physical education majors led the way with 32 student-athletes making the honor roll from the department. The nursing major had 31 names on the list, while there were 29 exercise science majors recognized as well for the success in the classroom.
Number of Brockport honoree's by sport: gymnastics (24), women's track and field/cross country (23), women's soccer (18), men's track and field/cross country (15), baseball (14), men's ice hockey (13), women's lacrosse (13), football (11), men's lacrosse (10), field hockey (9), volleyball (8), softball (8), wrestling (7), men's soccer (6), women's basketball (6), women's tennis (4), men's basketball (3), women's swim and dive (2), men's swim and dive (2).
