The nationally ranked No. 1 SUNY Brockport gymnastics team defeated host Rhode Island College 188.400-181.900 in a dual meet on the road Saturday afternoon. Brockport senior
Lexi Castellaneta posted a personal collegiate best score of 9.750 to win the vault, while
Taylor Bushey added a career-high score of 9.575 to earn top honors on the bars.
Sydney Schumaker had an impressive day as she finished second in two events (vault, bars) and sixth on the beam. Brockport had the top five finishers in the vault and the top four finishers in the bars to improve its record to 3-0 on the year.
The Golden Eagles, who are the defending NCGA National Champions, return to the gym on January 30
th when they travel to NCGA East rival Ithaca College for a dual meet at 1 p.m. Brockport defeated the Bombers 187.275-183.850 at the Brockport Tri-Meet at home last weekend.

Vault: Brockport bested its season-opening score in the vault with a team score of 48.100 on Saturday. Castellaneta now has two first place finishes in two meets on the vault this season after posting a score of 9.750 at RIC on Saturday.
Sydney Schumaker placed second in the event with a 9.675 and
Emma Grace Sargent added a third-place finish with a score of 9.650.
Kyra Figurelli placed fourth with a vault score of 9.550 and
Lauren Blair tied for fifth with a score of 9.475.

Uneven Bars: The Golden Eagles posted a season-best team performance in the uneven bars on Saturday with a score of 46.550 to start to pull away in the team competition.
Taylor Bushey placed first with a season-high score of 9.575, while
Sydney Schumaker placed second with a score of 9.500.
Emma Grace Sargent took home third place on the bars with a score of 9.450 and
Kyra Figurelli added a fourth-place finish with a score of 9.250.
Gabbi Gare rounded out Brockport's top five with a score of 8.775.

Balance Beam: Brockport kept the pressure on RIC on the balance beam with a respectable team score of 46.200.
Natalie Galioto placed second overall in the event and was the top finisher for Brockport with a score of 9.475, while
Olivia Stinnette added a third-place finish with a score of 9.375.
Lexi Castellaneta added a 9.200 to take home fifth and
Sydney Schumaker capped an excellent day in the gym with a sixth-place finish (9.150).

Floor Exercise: The Golden Eagles completed the sweep of all four events with a 47.550-47.475 team event victory on the floor.
Lexi Castellaneta narrowly missed out on a share of another event victory as she placed third with a score of 9.725 on the floor.
Kyra Figurelli placed fourth with a score of 9.500, while
Naimah Muhammad tied for fifth (9.475) in her collegiate debut.
Kirsten Paultre tied Muhammad for the fifth-place spot with a score of 9.475 and
Natalie Galioto (9.375) finished ninth overall on the floor.
