Brockport, NY – The Golden Eagles return the gym for a dual-meet against the Ithaca College Bombers on Sunday, January 30
th at 1 p.m.
Brockport's scored a season high 188.400 in their second meet of the season, when they traveled to Rhode Island College. Senior
Lexi Castellaneta continues to lead the team, having won the NCGA Specialist of the Week two weeks in a row. The Golden Eagles currently rank second in the nation and first in the East with an average score of 187.838.
Vault: For the second week in a row, Brockport tops the national rankings on vault with an average score of 47.850. Senior
Lexi Castellaneta also tops the individual national rankings, scoring an average of 9.738 on the event, while sophomore
Emma Grace Sargent ranks third nationally. Behind Castellaneta's career-high 9.750, the Golden Eagles scored an impressive 48.100 at RIC last weekend while sophomore's
Sydney Schumaker (9.675) and
Emma Grace Sargent (9.65) took second and third on the vault last week, respectively.
Uneven Bars: After a little bit of a bumpy opening season showing on the uneven bars, the Golden Eagles recovered, posting a season high 46.550 at RIC last weekend. Brockport's sophomores had themselves quite the day, as
Taylor Bushey (9.575),
Sydney Schumaker (9.500), and
Emma Grace Sargent (9.450) took the top three spots in the event.
Beam: Brockport posted another good showing on the beam at RIC, with a score of 46.200. Sophomore
Natalie Galioto (9.475) and freshman Olivia Stinette (9.375) both got career highs, taking second and third respectively.
Floor: Brockport continues to fly high atop the national ranking on the floor with a season average 47.850. Senior
Lexi Castellaneta posted another strong showing at RIC, coming in third on the floor with a 9.725, and currently ranks second in the nation.
About Ithaca: This is the second time Brockport is meeting Ithaca College Bombers. On January 15
th, the Bombers scored a 183.850 and placed second at the Brockport Tri-meet. This weekends meet is Ithaca's third meet of the season and their first at home. Brockport and Ithaca will face each other twice more during the regular season.
Note: Ithaca College is not allowing outside spectators at any athletic events currently.
Next Up: The Golden Eagles will return home next weekend, hosting RIC on Saturday February 5
th, at 1 p.m. The team will celebrate Senior Day for its six seniors on that day as well.
