Brockport Hosts Pair of SUNYAC Games This Weekend

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport men's basketball team is at home on Friday and Saturday for some SUNYAC action. Brockport welcomes Oneonta at 7:30 pm on Friday and then takes on New Paltz at 4 pm on Saturday.
 
Down in Daytona: The Golden Eagles last competed down in Florida at the Mauro Panaggio Tournament, hosted by DME Academy. They went 2-0 for the first time in four years at the event, defeating Penn State Altoona (74-62) and Piedmont University (66-55). Two wins down south makes it three straight for the squad as it jumps to 8-2 overall.
 
SUNYAC Standings: At 8-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play, Brockport sits third in the current SUNYAC standings. Oswego owns the top spot at 10-1 overall and 4-0 in the SUNYAC, while Geneseo is second at 5-4 overall and 3-0 in the SUNYAC. The rest of the conference rankings show New Paltz is in fourth place followed by Oneonta, Potsdam, Cortland, Buffalo State, Plattsburgh, and Fredonia. After Monday's game, SUNYAC play is all that remains on the schedule.
 
Brockport's Top Trio: Jahidi Wallace, Mekhi Beckett, and David Grady III are all averaging more than 12 points per game this season. Wallace is the leading scorer with 15.2 points and 6.8 boards a night. He shoots 53.3% from the field and has attempted 68 free throws already this season. Beckett, the freshman, is a lethal shooter that is putting up 13.2 points a game and connected on 45.8% of his looks from long range. Grady is third in scoring with 12.4 points per game and is also the leading rebounder at 7.1 boards on average. Grady also has 25 blocks as the team's leading rim protector.
 
Other Key Contributors: Brandon Kennedy-Gay and Devante Hagins are also a fixture in the starting lineup and have successfully done their part. Kennedy-Gay leads the team in assists to go with 5.7 points and 3.5 boards a game. Hagins leads the team in steals, while also being second in assists, blocks, and rebounds. Shooting 52.7% from the floor he averages 8.7 points and 5.3 boards a game.

Coach Dunne continues to add to his impressive resume which includes three SUNYAC Championships, four trips to the NCAA Tournament, and two SUNYAC Coach of the Year Awards.

Up Next: The Golden Eagles are back on the road next week for a trip to Geneseo on Friday. This conference game will tip-off at 7:30 pm on January 14th.
