Field Hockey Hosts Medaille Wednesday Before Heading to Oswego Saturday

Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team is at home on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 for a non-conference battle with Medaille at 7pm. The team will then head on the road on Saturday, October 15th for a 1pm SUNYAC matchup with Oswego.
 
Last Week's Recap: The Golden Eagles played the University of Rochester and Morrisville last week. They fell to U of R, 4-1, in a non-conference match on the road. The squad then bounced back at home against the Mustangs in a SUNYAC matchup, taking the 9-0 win. Brockport is now 6-5 overall and 1-2 in conference play heading into the final few weeks of the regular season.
 
Team Leaders: Bailey Lazore leads the Green and Gold this season with 17 points from a team-high eight goals and one assist. Lazore is tied for third in the conference in goals and tied for seventh in the SUNYAC in points heading into this week. Emmalee Moore has four goals in the last four games, sitting at second on the team with six on the year. Both Olivia Hayden and Tiffany Andres have made five assists to lead Brockport, which is tied for third in the conference.
 
Back in Net: Ella Buchanan has been solid in net for the Golden Eagles this season. She has already notched a career-high 98 saves in 2022, which ranks third in the SUNYAC. Buchanan has recorded double-digit saves in four matches, including a career-high 31 saves earlier in the year against Ithaca. She has a .790 saves percentage and teamed up with Katelynn Banning for one combined shutout.
 
SUNYAC Standings: With three SUNYAC games remaining on the regular season schedule, Brockport is looking to make a push for the postseason. It is currently sitting in fifth in the conference standings, however just four teams make the SUNYAC Tournament. The full standings are as follows: 1. Geneseo, 2. Oneonta, 3. Cortland, 4. New Paltz, 5. Brockport, 6. Morrisville, and 7. Oswego.
 
Looking at Medaille: The Medaille Mavericks enter Wednesday's contest with a 3-7 overall record. They recently defeated Wells College, 5-2, on their home field. Medaille is 0-4 on the road in 2022 and have earned a 2-2 mark in the Empire 8. Cassie Deppner has lit it up for the Mavericks, totaling 17 points on eight goals and one assist to lead the way. Kristyn Clare has made 140 saves in net as the starting goalie and owns a .729 saves percentage.
 
Meet Oswego State: At 7-6 overall, the Oswego State Lakers enter this week winless at 0-3 against SUNYAC opponents. They most recently snapped a three-game losing streak with a 3-1 win over Nazareth. Kacie Simzer leads the team with 28 points, scoring 13 goals to go with two assists. Teammate Kaitlyn Mastracco has tallied 20 points from nine goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Erica Scheblein has started all 13 games for Oswego, racking up 104 saves and a .846 saves percentage.
 
Up Next: The Golden Eagles are on the road for their next contest, as they play the final non-conference game of the season. They head to Wells College on Tuesday, October 18th for a 4pm start against the Express.
