Brockport, NY – The SUNY Brockport field hockey team is on the road Tuesday, October 4
th for a non-conference battle with the University of Rochester. The Golden Eagles take on the Yellowjackets at 4pm.
Last Time Out: Brockport lost to the defending SUNYAC Champion New Paltz Hawks on the road, 7-0, in the last game over the weekend. The loss puts Brockport's record at 5-4 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Home Sweet Home: After a few losses on the road recently, the Golden Eagles will be happy to be back playing on their home field this weekend. So far this year they are 3-1 playing at Dr. Linda Arena Field. At home the squad is outscoring opponents, 20-7.
Team Leaders: With 15 points,
Bailey Lazore leads the team with a team-high seven goals and one assist. Lazore ranks top five in the SUNYAC in points going into Tuesday's matchup with U of R. Leading Brockport with four assists to go with three scores,
Katelynn Mello is second on the team with 10 points. Tied for second on the team,
Emmalee Moore and
Gianna Salerno have both scored four goals.
Buchanan in Net: Despite the loss, goalkeeper
Ella Buchanan made 13 saves in net for the Green and Gold against New Paltz. As the starter in net, Buchanan has totaled 80 saves for a .784 saves percentage. She is currently first in the SUNYAC in total saves.
Meet the Yellowjackets: Currently on a four-game winning streak, the University of Rochester owns a record of 8-2 overall and 2-0 in the Liberty League. Over the weekend the Yellowjackets defeated Skidmore College, 3-2, in a conference battle on the road. Maeve Fogarty leads the team with 20 points from six goals and eight assists. Nikki Mercer is the top goal scorer (8 goals), while Karina Bridger leads the team in assists (10 assists).
Looking at Morrisville: The Mustangs enter the week 3-3 overall and 0-1 in SUNYAC play. They recently fell to Geneseo, 6-0, to kickoff conference competition. Morrisville will have a matchup against Oneonta prior to traveling to Brockport for Friday's matchup. With five points, Emma Plett leads the team with two goals and one assist.
BLACKOUT for Homecoming Weekend: Following the weekday matchup with U of R, the team comes back home on Friday night to help celebrate Homecoming Weekend at SUNY Brockport. Morrisville comes to town for a 6pm start on October 7
th. It's a Blackout so fans are encouraged to wear black to the game as the Golden Eagles take on the Mustangs at Dr. Linda Arena Field.
